Losing a parent or anybody we love is tough, and sadly I lost my Mum in June 2023 to dementia which is a cruel and at times a relentless disease. Watching Mum over the short time of her diagnosis begin to lose all the amazing and beautiful memories she’d amassed in her life disappear was heartbreaking and emotionally difficult. Not being able to recall what she’d had for breakfast that morning let alone remember the name of Church she married my Dad in almost 52 years ago. I along with my Dad, Brother and Sister have been the lucky ones to of had a parent that taught us all so much and we now carry all those memories with us. Alzheimer’s and Dementia, having and living with the disease needs all of our help to support and raise funds to continue the amazing research, in the hope that one day we will be able to eradicate it from our lives. To continue to support and fund those amazing individuals in the NHS that visit and support families, the volunteers that give up their time to help and tell you you’re doing all the right things. This is why I’m completing this walk, to show my appreciation and raise much needed money so the fight to beat it will continue. Thank you from the bottom of my heart ❤️
