On 14 December 2022, my oldest sister, Annette, took her own life. She had suffered years of mental health issues, but was unable to reach out for help. I would like to raise the profile of a mental health charity local to Orkney to help people suffering from mental health issues, so that they might be able to to reach out.

"Orkney Blide Trust promotes mental well-being in Orkney, through active personalised support with a focus on recovery. We support over 140 people in Orkney with their recovery from mental ill health (we also help visitors and tourists in need of help). We do this by providing complementary therapies, one to one support, numerous activities e.g. Creative Writing, Crafts, Out and About trips etc. People join as members and work together with the staff team to plan and develop what we do so it meets the needs of our people."
