We provide whole family care and support to those living with life-limiting illness

Story

Last year, a good friend of mine was looking forward to getting married and starting a family with the love of his life. Due to nothing more that a horrible twist of fate, through no fault of their own, that dream was taken away from them. Although thanks to the wonderful staff at Severn Hospice, they did manage to get married, shortly after, Samantha passed away. For those left behind, life must go on, as does the work of the heroes who strive every day to assist those affected by incurable illness, from the patients themselves, to the families and friends who deal with the worst of circumstances. I only met Sam a few times myself, but I work and have worked with her husband Alec for many years now, and she was also a teacher at my Daughters secondary school and although she was not directly one of her teachers, she stepped in to assist when my Daughter needed assistance with maths, and from all the stories I have been told by her colleagues and friends, she was always going out of her way to assist others. SO I will do my best to remember, and honour memory by raising as much as possible for the hospice that looked after her so well, and helped Sam become Mrs Webster when it didn't seem possible.

I have decided to do this by walking the Wrekin 24 times in 24 hours, which is probably a bit mental, as I have already been told several times, and will be quite a personal challenge both physically and mentally. I will be on the Wrekin most weekends between now and the event itself training, and I will be making sponsor forms and flyers etc available to be seen at the halfway house as well as many other venues around the area. I hope to raise as much as possible for this worthy cause, so please, give what you can. If it's a quid, if it's 50p for each lap, if it's a tenner all in, it is all going to wards something that I hope none of us ever need to use, but will be desperately glad of if we do.

Severn Hospice is with families from the moment they're referred to its care for as long as they need it, and it does this every day, all day for anyone in Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin and Mid Wales who needs that help.It does this for them for free, but it is not without cost and it can't happen without you.For every £1 you donate, they will spend 88p directly on care - and use the remaining 12p to make another £1.Last year, all those individual donations - large or small - added up to £8.98 million for care.Thank you - you're amazing!
