Story
In a bit of a moment of madness, I've signed up to run the London Marathon next year.
...and even better, all the money goes towards the Motor Neurone Disease Association, who were a huge help to my Grandpa Lawrie who was taken by MND when I was a teenager.
Motor Neurone Disease (MND) attacks the motor neurones (the cells that control movement) in the brain and spinal cord, causing gradual muscle weakening and eventually paralysis. The MNDA provide amazing care to help manage symptoms for those unfortunate enough to be suffering with it.
If you've got this far, you might be wondering how prepared I am for these runs. So you might like to know that I've been occasionally doing a Saturday morning 5km run. At the end of which I am pretty much dead. And to run the marathon I'll need to run that another 7 times (and then a bit more).
The longest race I've ever taken part in was 10km (last year), so quite a way to go!
