The brain is the most complex organ in our body. It controls our emotions, senses and actions. So when it breaks down, we break down. We fund the best research to discover the causes, develop new treatments and improve the lives of those affected. Let’s unite to accelerate progress. Today.

Story

Hello and thanks for visiting my JustGiving page! Whether you have arrived by blog, google, word of mouth, facebook, twitter or fluke, don't worry - just get reading and sponsoring.

This was set up in memory of Maurice Deaton, my Granda. He was the best, a real top man!

He was not only the best Granda, he was also the best Dad, best Great Granda, best Brother, best Uncle and the best in everything else he was to people.

Granda always encouraged me in everything I did, and I thought to myself, why not do something good?

TIme, effort and energy costs nothing, and is something I have bundles of, so I thought of channelling this into a project to raise funds for charity.

After a long and deep thought about Granda I decided to opt for the Brain Research Trust as my designated charity. They are an organisation without government funding who propose and support research into the causes, treatment, prevention and cure of neurological diseases.

I have got a load of ideas in my head for 'things' to do over the the coming years, but the first of these fundraising projects is to be the Coast to Coast walk. It is 192 miles from St Bees to Robin Hood's Bay, and hope to do this in 12 days in May 2013. The walk will be be absolutely gruelling I have no doubt, but with a lot of practise and training, and under the invisible encouragement of Granda, it will be a success.

You can have a look at my training updates on my blog by clicking on here.

Any donations you make will be most appreciated - not only by the Brain Research Trust, but by myself on a personal level.

Many thanks,

Dan
