For most folk around today, 2020 will be the most extraordinary time of our lives, and I’d like to recognise some of the heroes in our midst.

At the start of the year I decided it’d be a good thing to walk more this year and thought averaging 5 miles every day would be good, perhaps rounding it up to a target of 2000 miles over the year, and later thought well as it’s 2020 why not aim for 2020 miles! I was toying with raising some money for charity, and recent events have galvanised that wish - what better cause than our NHS heroes, via NHS Charities Together?!

Now this is proper walking, not step-counting, so the journey from sofa to fridge for cheese or a beer won’t count (pity!)! Luckily at the mo I can still do my 5 miles a day under government restrictions, and I’ve become a dab-hand at social distancing! And I don’t think the sightseeing Dorset Day Trips I usually run will be getting in the way anytime soon...

While I’m no Captain Tom, with so much need for a bit of charity at the moment, I hope you will support me (using Gift Aid too if you can) and perhaps be inspired to do something similar, as we can still get out and about (subject to the rules, of course!). Please pass on to others too if
you think they can support this fantastic charity that in turn supports NHS staff & volunteers.

Now to use an oft-quoted phrase at the moment, this is a marathon not a sprint, but I am pleased to say that (as at mid-April) I’ve already clocked up over 600 miles so am well on the way to 2020 in 2020!
