The doctor's told me to never run again. They diagnosed me with ostrigonum and osteoarthritis, but they were unwilling to operate to remove the extra bit of bone in my ankle. The furthest I had ever run before then was 10 kilometers when I was 23 years old. Fast forward to 33 years old and being told my sporting days were over and that I had to stop running, which I had picked up as something to do to stay healthy whilst I waited for the scan results. I tried to explain that the ankle was actually feeling better with running on it a bit - better then days where I rested it. They stood firm with their opinion.

As a fitness professional and sports massage therapist I decided to listen to my body and go with what was making me feel better so after a couple months of battling with what to do I decided to continue with the running.

Since Covid-19 I decided to stick to a strict training block and build from my longest ever run of 13 miles to 26 miles. This has taken a lot of dedication and perseverance but I have really enjoyed pushing through the pain barriers. Having completed my first ever marathon - a route I picked for myself as no official races are happening at the moment due to covid restrictions, I was looking for a bigger challenge. I wanted to run a 100km in 24 hour challenge for sure, but then I saw this 874 mile virtual race. It has to be completed within 12 months, but I think that sounds too easy. So I am going for a 6 month completion with the final 24 hours being a 100 km (60 mile) race day.

I will be very active across my social media channels - the best one being instagram
