Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I am the guitarist in the band The Darkness

My daughter was diagnosed with type-1 diabetes when she was just 3 years old. It is an incurable disease that results in the pancreas not producing insulin. Children with Type 1 are classed as disabled once diagnosed as their glucose needs monitoring and their insulin administered 24 hours a day - this is incredibly tough and daunting for parents of a newly diagnosed child.

The two worst moments in my life were being told that this condition is incurable, and then a few weeks later chasing my little princess around the house, armed with a needle of insulin as she screamed “No Daddy, No!...”

We have an incredibly brave little girl and although it has been tough we have adjusted and it’s part of life now.

She hasn’t  let it stand in the way of her living the life she wants to. Nonetheless I would much prefer it if no one had to live with this desease so I have decided to do my bit for diabetes research and raise funds by running a half marathon.

I’ve haven’t run this distance before and am starting training a little late, but it’s going well and I think I’m going to smash it!

Thanks for donating - it really means the world...
