Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our page.
On September 7th a team of nine of including staff of the University of Leicester Development and Alumni Office and members of our Alumni Association are running the Autumn Wolf Run to help bring this appeal close to completion. Our quest will take us across 10km of water, obstacles, lakes and fields at Welsh Road Farm, Warwickshire.
Embrace Arts at the Richard Attenborough Centre has a history of successful engagement in the arts with people with disabilities and children who make up almost 25% of the visitors and users each year. The current dedicated space for the visual arts is however severely limited. It is estimated that for every three people who are able to access Embrace Arts, there are a further two who are unable to attend due to the lack of more bespoke gallery space.
The New Galleries Wing will provide nearly 50% more space, including three new galleries, an outdoor Sculpture Court and a flexible Creativity Space. It will provide a Centre of Excellence for Creative Learning to give audiences, especially children and people with disabilities, greatly expanded opportunities and services.
Due to the fantastic support of over 1,200 individuals and organisations who have made gifts so far, we are nearly there. Over £800,000 has been raised to reduce the fundraising gap to less than £100,000.
Any donation no matter how large or small is greatly
appreciated and the generous support of Arts Council England means that every
£1 raised will yield £1.66 towards the campaign.
Following the sad passing of Lord Richard Attenborough , the team have decided that it would be a fitting tribute to run in his memory as he was a champion for the Embrace Arts Centre.
