Story
3 weeks ago it was my 40th birthday, my family and friends had arranged to celerbrate this "milestone" in my life with presents, meals out and a fancy dress party. I was looking forward to seeing people I hadn`t seen in ages and saying hello to middle age! This was how i should have spent my birthday however something happened which would change my life forever. My sister,Nina had a stroke! This simple word didnt mean much to me when my brother in law told me on the phone. I went to the hospital on my birthday eve with my mum and dad not knowing what we would be told, we talked very little on the drive to the hospital but what we did say was generally positive"she will be ok", "shes strong" "she will probably be home in a few days" When we arrived at Lincoln city hospital we were taken into a small waiting room and told a Dr would be through to see us sortly to discuss how Nina was. We were all still trying to be positive. When the Dr arrived none of us where expecting the news he told us. Nina had suffered a massive brain bleed and we should expect the worst, she probably wouldn`t survive the night. BANG.The news none of us could take in. How does a 42 year old devoted mum and wife suffer from this. Surely there is something they could do? No, the bleed was so bad there was nothing any Dr could do even in this modern day. All I could do was sit, cry and pray, something I have never done before. All I wanted now for my birthday was for my sister to get better. Well Nina proved us all wrong, she survived that night and the weekend! My birthday wishes came true and it truely was a miracle. 3 weeks on my sister is showing so much courage and strengh, she is now talking, eating and the out look is positive, that, in time she will be able to lead a happy life. So that is why I am doing this run, if Nina can look at deaths door and kick it down and show so much courage, then I can do the same. I have 3 weeks to get my self ready for the biggest pysical challange of my life and like my sister i will do it.
