West Sussex Fire Service Climb and descent of Everest · 18 August 2018
Once upon a time a couple of years ago 2 local Chichester Firefighters decided an event was needed in the centre of Chichester to help raise money for the Firefighters Charity and the Climb to Everest was born. After its success a request was made to make it a permanent yearly climb but as we firefighters like a challenge we decided to not only climb Everest but to climb Mount Kilimanjaro too. This year the challenge continues and we shall now be climbing and descending Everest via a 10m fire service ladder and pole system (Only the climbing of the ladder counts).....so this year a total of 1770 ladder climbs will be required. This will be done by West Sussex Firefighters, Local Firefighter charity physios and.......yourselves via a harness system !!!.
The Event is being held on the 18th August, North street, Chichester outside the Assembly rooms from 10am until 5pm, and all are more than welcome to come and watch, support and join in. Although we will still be collecting via buckets on the day we have had several requests over the last 2 years to open up a Just Giving page so those that can't attend and wanted to donate could do so.
The Firefighters charity was set up to support us broken and injured Firefighters and their families. It's a place where us Firefighters can go to recover from both physical and mental injuries which will hopefully allow us to return to the job we love most and that's helping you, the people who pay our salaries, in any possible way you could need our help.......from House Fires, Road Traffic Collisions, Flooding, Smoke Alarm Fittings.....to anything else in between which you may feel we can help you with.
We very much hope you can come along and support us on the day and come along to say hello but here's a page if you can't.
We thank you ever so much for your support and donations.
