Story
My lifelong best mate Barry O'Sullivan and I are cycling from London to Paris to raise money for a great charity which will be used to build homes for families in Uganda in 2 areas - Hoima and Kasambya.
I heard about KISS through the work Barry does as a teacher at Nicholas Breakspear School in St Albans. Listening to how relatively small amounts of money could transform lives and with a thirst for a bit of an adventure, we decided to don the lycra and get on our bikes and head off on the Avenue Verte from London to Paris.
Just £1,500 builds a new house for a Ugandan family, providing shelter and safety. And its not just homes that KISS provide, they also support these communities with education and healthcare.
My employer Barclays have agreed to match every penny I raise up to a maximum of £1,000 so that's the initial target. Just think, if we hit that number than one struggling family will have a new home all thanks to you lovely people!
We start at the London Eye on 30th March 2016 and head through the South Downs to Newhaven where we catch the ferry to Dieppe. From Dieppe we make our way through towns, villages and countryside arriving at Notre Dame in the heart of Paris over 400km later.
There are fantastic causes closer to home of course, but I hope you can see just how much of a difference we can make to people's lives and give generously. That and the thought of 2 middle aged men in lycra hauling ourselves through the South Downs and across France no doubt in the rain and wind...
