My Prudential RideLondon-Surrey 100 2020 · 16 August 2020 ·
Thanks for taking the time to visit our fundraising page and reading my story.
In September 2016 I was diagnosed with bladder cancer - soon after kidney cancer. I had the kidney removed but its legacy lives on inside me. I know have metastatic cancer which has resulted in tumours in my spine - lymph nodes and lung. I am now incurable and am relying on science to help me survive. This all started with spotting blood in my pee - the rest as they say is history.
I have always loved a challenge - I have run a few marathons and raised a few quid - thanks to my friends colleagues and family for supporting me. This time I am challenging myself with something completely insane - but as I have always said ' If I can I will' and I'm still alive so I guess I'll give it a bash.
I will be attempting this challenge with my good friend and work colleague Gareth Winter. He will be training with me - attending my scans and helping me get to the start line in one piece. We plan on documenting it - worts and all. It will be emotional and extremely challenging but I'm up for it as I know he is. We are both deeply committed to making this a reality - Gareth knows only too well the destruction of this terrible disease - his father is currently surviving cancer.
So we ask you to give what you can and make my ride the best experience of my life and the biggest challenge I will undertake. All our hard endeavours will raise money for Cancer Research UK - if it wasn't for the research my life would be a lot shorter.
