Story
I have incurable metastatic kidney cancer so every day is a gift. Living from scan to scan has opened my eyes to how wonderful life is and how more often that not we take for granted the time we spend bumping around in the hustle and bustle of every day life oblivious to the really important things. The Royal Marsden keep me going. They keep the train on the tracks. They provide me with the critical care and ongoing support that helps me and many like me, ensuring that we get to spend more time with the people we love making memories and living life - they are much more than just a hospital. Completing the Marsden Marathon will be a massive emotional challenge for me. Treatments have left a legacy of pain and arthritis so moving is more often than not crippling and very painful BUT I get up everyday and I can still move. As I've often declared as my mantra for life: 'INCURABLE DOESN'T MEAN INCAPABLE'. On September 1st I will start my challenge of 26 miles in 26 days. I will record every step in an attempt to raise what I can for my amazing hospital in the hope that what is donated will go towards helping people like me spend more time on this wonderful planet. That is all we could ever wish for. So please donate what you can.... I understand everyone has had a horrendous 18 months so anything would be a blessing. Thank you for your continued support and love. Darren x
