Story

This incredible charity was established five years ago by people who are themselves in recovery from addictions. The founders had all been inspired by the transformative effects of recovery in their own lives and those of others. This led to them setting up the trust with the aim to transform the North East of England from a place with one of the highest rates of alcohol, drug and other addictions to a region with one of the highest rates of abstinence based recovery.

The Trust has done wonderful work to date opening George Street Social in July 2016 to provide

a safe place for people in all stages of recovery along with the general public to enjoy an alcohol free social space. An essential aspect of George Street Social is that it provides a ‘bridge to normality’ for those in recovery, rather than the community being segregated. The space is used for any purpose that helps people grow, flourish or improve any aspect of their physical, emotional, spiritual & mental wellbeing.
