Story
Hello, my name is Daryl and over the next 4 weeks i plan on doing several events for Motor Neuron Disease.
On the 16th of June myself and a couple of friends will be running Tough Mudder.
I ran the course last year but struggled to get round it. Once i finished it, i knew i needed to improve my health and fitness, come back the following year and kick the courses arse.
The other events i plan on doing will be a full head shave the day before tough mudder.
The reason i am doing this for Motor Neurons Disease is because sadly, my long time neighbour lost his battle with MND earlier this year. Allan had been my next door neighbour for as long as i could remember, and although when i was younger i was petrified of him, mainly because of his muscular build and heavily tattood arms. But as i got older, i realised he was more than just tattoos and motorbikes. He was the kind of neighbour that was always willing to lend a hand in any situation.
When i was told about the disease, i had no idea what it was, or how it came about. And unfortunatly, this seems to be the case with a lot of people. Its a disease that effects a lot of people, more than just the person diagnosed with it. It slowly causes muscle tissue to degrade. Meaning their friends and family see the person they love, turn into a shell of their former self.
My goal is to not just raise money, but raise awareness. Thankfully a lot more people are aware of the illness due to the brilliant work Doddie Weir has been doing. All money donations will be going to MND Scotland, who done amazing work helping Allan and his family through the hard times. In previous years this has also affected a close family member.
Thank you for reading all of this, and if anyone can think of anything else i can do to raise money, feel free to message me.
