Story

My mum is currently living with Alzheimers. Over the past few years I have lost the mum I knew - she no longer recognises me and needs help and care in every aspect of her life. It is a cruel disease with no hope - there is no cure just drugs to slow it down. I am passionate about raising money for research to change this. I want to promise my children that they will never have to go through this with me but I can’t. I also want to raise general awareness about Alzheimers/dementia to make people more aware so we can all become more dementia friendly.

I have raised money in the past through running so this time I wanted a new challenge which is why I chose Trek26. There is nothing easy about walking a marathon distance and being on your feet for so long.

I am grateful for any support and donations received and hopefully if I can raise the full amount by June I will also get a Trek26 top to wear and get people talking about Alzheimers.

I will be doing this with my friend Amy who sadly lost her mum to dementia in March 2020 and together we have formed a team Daughters Against Alzheimers 🧡 💙
