As many of you know, I am a keen runner and unfortunately
suffered a stress fracture last year which has meant I have not been able to run pain free for over a year and still struggling with it. Never wanting to stand still, I have decided to start Cycling and what better was to motivate myself than to sign up for a 100 miles race ! I have not cycled properly for a number a years so this is definitely going to be a challenge. It’s also a real pleasure to be riding with my sister who lives in the UK and I am grateful for the moral support.
Over the last 2 years, my mental health has definitely been tested with the challenges of lockdown combined with the impact of not being able to run which was my way of dealing with the stresses of life. I know this has been a challenge for many people and I am really pleased to be raising fund for Mind, who have provided invaluable support to many over that time.

Like my brother, I love a challenge but I have never really challenged myself physically as he has. I consider myself a casual cyclist, all the gear and no idea ! Back in 2020 after many failed attempts, I successfully gained a place in the ballot for the Prudential Ride London. I started training when Covid hit and the event was cancelled. Like most, I found it a challenge coping with the stress of it all but with the magic of the internet and online cycling platforms such as Zwift, it allowed me to keep in touch with my brothers where we would cycle together, catch up and forget all about the stress of daily life.
Originally cancelled for the foreseeable future, Ride London is now back taking the route through Essex, and I have once again been successful in the ballot, a sign you might say !
I am praying that my brother's tenacity will rub off on me and help me hang on through the full 100 mile ride ! And like David I am also pleased to be raising funds for Mind, who have provided invaluable support to many over that time.
