We are Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity. We stop at nothing to help give seriously ill children childhoods that are fuller, funner and longer. Because we believe no childhood should be lost to illness.

Story

Hi all,

As some of you know a few months ago I was conned into competing in a triathlon, at the time I thought no problem, I’m young, kind of fit, I can swim, I’ve got a bike which I know how to ride and who on earth can’t run?

Well, as it turns out it seems I used to be young and kind of fit.  I couldn’t swim more than a couple of lengths and couldn’t run more than a few hundred metres.  As for the bike, I was right, I could still ride it with relative ease so no problem there. Unfortunately, it’s wasn’t the right kind of bike and I couldn’t use it in the race.  Jen very kindly lent me her road bike to train and compete on which I was amazed to find out seemed designed purely to slice my flabby old arse in half.

Things have come on a touch since then, with no small amount of pain and more than a little humiliation involved. The swimming especially has improved with the addition of a black rubber gimp suit (as pictured). Eventually though, my thoughts turned to the inevitable question, bugger this for a laugh, what’s the point?

On that note I'd very much appreciate any of your hard earned cash to go towards the Great Ormond Street Children’s Hospital Charity. The hospital has to raise over £50m every year just to keep going. They do some amazing treatments these days that just aren’t available anywhere else in the UK and without them there would be thousands of kids left with some pretty horrendous conditions which their parents could literally do nothing about.

Have a look at their website (there’s a link somewhere over to the left of this note) to see what a difference they make every year and just how much effect they have on the lives of the kids that get treated there.

Anything you can spare would be fantastic and please rest assured that however much it may hurt you to part with your money the sadistically designed saddle on Jen’s bike will be causing me equal discomfort.

Thanks Again,

Dave.

P.S. No Steve, you cant have the gimp suit when im finished with it.
