Alzheimer’s Society and the Insurance United Against Dementia campaign are close to my heart. This October, I am going to be taking on the challenge to swim 10 miles.There are currently 900,000 people living with dementia in the UK. This number is expected to double in the next twenty years. With no cure and limited treatments, one in three people will develop the condition in their lifetime. This disease has a devastating personal impact as I know personally. 

I would like to raise awareness of dementia whilst fundraising for Alzheimer’s Society’s vital services and dementia research. Any donation you can give will be able to support people living with dementia and ensure no one must face dementia alone.

Just £9.90 can begin someone’s Dementia Connect journey with a call from one of Alzheimer’s Society’s Dementia Advisers who are experts and provide information, guidance and support. 

£50 pays for 4 hours of a PhD students time. Supporting PhD students is critical to research progress. Not only do these researchers keep projects moving, but the experience they gain helps to build a community of experts who will lead us towards new treatments.

£300 means over 1,800 people can access Dementia Talking Point, an online community. Here people can learn from each other's experiences, share their frustrations and their knowledge of local services.
