Brighton Marathon 2021 · 12 September 2021 ·
I started running long distance in October last year to combat the Lockdown boredom and found it to be tremendously beneficial for my physical and mental health.
After I finished my first half marathon (and bragged about in on Facebook, natch) I received a message from my good friends Beth & Paul, asking if I'd be interested in putting my new hobby to good use in order to help raise some funds for the awesome Square Pegs. I told them I would be honoured!
Square Pegs provide opportunities for vulnerable, socially isolated people with learning disabilities and autism to be involved in high quality Arts based groups, projects and performances. This allows people to be engaged in purposeful activity where they can build friendships and feel a real sense of belonging. Square Pegs use drama, music and creative based methods to build confidence and self-esteem, develop social communication skills and other transferable skills so that everyone can achieve and maintain positive wellbeing and be their best self.
