In April 2017 (that's less than 100 days away as Virgin have already kindly reminded me), I will be taking part in the Virgin London Marathon in memory of Beckie Constant who sadly lost her short battle with colon cancer at the end of June 2015 at the tender age of 38.  

Those of you that know me will immediately be thinking 'how on earth is Dave going to drag his 18st+ body around 26.2miles in anything less than a week!!  Well, surprise number 1 is that I've lost 3st already and plan to lose another 2 before the race.  Not having to carry those 75lbs around will definitely help.  It still won't be easy as I've never really enjoyed or even tried running any distance further than the length of a football/rugby pitch (and even that was often a struggle).  I'm not looking to set any records, just want to make sure I beat anyone dressed as an African rhino or a deep sea diver!!

I'll be fundraising for Macmillan Cancer Support as requested by Beckie.  Macmillan help ensure that anyone diagnosed with any form of cancer don't go through it alone.  They provide support every step of the way through and with more than 1 in 3 of us suffering from some form of cancer in our lives, that's a lot of support!!

This challenge isn't going to be easy, particularly with my added weight loss goal so I'll try and post regular updates as to how I'm getting on with my training over the next couple of months.
