Asics British 10K London Run 2011 · 10 July 2011 ·

We are dedicated to improving the quality of life and chances of survival for young cancer patients aged 13-24. We fund and build specialist units in NHS hospitals and provide dedicated staff, bringing young people together so they can be treated by teenage cancer experts in the best place for them.

Story

Hi.  Thanks for taking the time to visit this page - I decided to enter the London 10k run as a bit of a personal goal since I started running just a year ago to improve my general fitness, reduce my cholesterol & generally 'de-stress'...

Choosing a charity to raise money for is always a difficult task, but having spent an evening at the Royal Albert Hall, organised by Roger Daltrey in aid of the trust, I have to say the task was made quite easy.

Nobody should have to suffer the effects of cancer, not least our children / teenagers who have not lived a full life. But on that evening I was touched by a teenage girl & boy who unfortunately had to endure the treatment associated to the disease.

They both spoke with so much maturity & were so grateful to the 'teenage cancer trust' for allowing them to be treated in an environment totally dominated by like aged patients, which greatly contributed to their wellbeing.  The young man who spoke actually said that if he were to be given the choice of whether he could relive his life as is, or be cancer free, he would actually choose to live his life as he has thus far because he felt that he was now a better person for the experience!  Wow.  How many adults would say that?!

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate what you can afford.

Cheers, Dave & George
