Bristol Half Marathon 2012 · 30 September 2012 ·
Hello
I am running this years Bristol half marathon in memory of my Niece Kelsey Smart. Early this year she contracted meningitis b and after a very short illness passed away on 28-02-2012. She has left behind her Mum and Dad Jamie and Hannah Smart and her three brothers Simon, Bradley and Jayden.
Family's being family's i didn't know Kelsey very well but i am told she was a very special little girl. Some of the words spoken at her funeral by her Father and teacher were very emotional. Please follow the links below to read her story.
So I've decided to show my support and torture my body to help stop meningitis harming any more families. I am running to raise money for meningitis UK. They are a charity that has set out to fund the search for a vaccine to eradicate meningitis. They have also provided so much support for my family both emotionally and financially as they have done for many many families. I would like to help them carry on doing this for for many more years. The charity was founded by Steve Dayman who is a wonderfully dedicated man who after his own loss due to meningitis has offered so much of himself to help people across the UK.
Kelsey's forever fund has so far raised over £24,000 and meningitis UK has raised £5,400,000. Please help me let them raise a little bit more.
I have been training to do this half marathon all year. My original intention was to build to the half marathon next year but brought it forward after Kelsey's tragic death, This means that i am woefully under prepared to run this distance so i can assure you it will be a massive challenge.
If you like me you will be showing me great support if you don't like me you will putting me through serious pain !! So its a win win. Please help meningitis UK as much as you can, they really deserve it, you will receive my greatest respect.
Thanks For your support x
