North Coast 500 · 27 September 2017

Medics Against Violence is a Scottish charity run by clinicians. We've all seen too many people injured as a result of violence and our aim is to prevent violence before it happens through award winning schools projects, our domestic abuse training initiatives and hospital based support programmes

Story

I'll be tackling the North Coast 500 (a 500 mile route cycle route around the northern coast of Scotland), with a friend and support driver (Craig and Gerry), starting on the 27th September over 5 1/2 days. The route takes in some of Scotland's most stunning scenery and challenging climbs (35,000 ft. of ascents, which is 1.2 Mount Everest's), including the famous Bealach na Ba pass.

Although this is very much a personal challenge I have decided to try and raise some funds for an amazing charity Medics Against Violence (MAV), a charity I've supported over a number of years.

Medics against Violence is a small Scottish charity trying to do amazing things. We aim to tackle violence in Scotland in all its forms because we've all seen far too much of it. We work closely with the Scottish Violence Reduction Unit and other amazing partners because the one thing we are sure of it that we will only achieve good outcomes if we work together. We run MAV Schools, an education programme for young people, Ask Support Care, a domestic abuse training initiative and we help to run Navigator a hospital based support programme.

Any contributions you make will be greatly appreciated and allow MAV to continue with their fantastic work.

Thank-you for your support

Dave
