Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
In September this year, former Liverpool, Bradford City and Bolton Wanderers’ player Stephen Darby, was forced to retire from football at the age of 29, having been diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease.
Motor Neurone Disease (MND) is a rare neurological condition that causes the degeneration of the cells and nerves in the brain and spinal cord which control the muscles in our bodies. It can affect how you walk, talk, eat, drink and breathe. MND is life-shortening and there is currently no cure.
The disease can be a nasty little blighter, so in order to show my support for Stephen and for the MND Association, I have decided to do a charity walk to raise a bit of money and awareness, going some way to help find a cure and in the meantime, improve care and support for people affected by MND,
On Saturday15th December 2018, Bolton will be hosting Leeds United at the University of Bolton Stadium. At the final whistle, I will set off with the aim to reach Griffin Park, by 3pm the following Saturday 22nd December, where Bolton will take on Brentford FC in their next Championship game.
It’s a distance of just over 200 miles on foot, so hopefully my dodgy hamstring and even dodgier ankle hold out, the snow will hold off and I don’t get lost or eaten by wild animals along the way,
If you would like to support me, Darbs and MNDA please donate what you can and share on your social media.
Thanks for all your support, we really appreciate it.
Dave
