Story
Dear All,
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I'm running the Edinburgh Rock 'n' Roll Half Marathon on Sunday 15th April in memory of Robbie Dickie. Robbie's young life was cruelly cut short on 1st September 2011 after he was hit by a car near his home in Alloway. It was a devastating blow for Robbie, his family and all those who knew and loved him.
Robbie was my girlfriend Lesley's nephew. We were both extremely close to Robbie and miss him more than words can say. He was on the cusp of great things, due to take up a place at Edinburgh's Napier University last autumn - thus the reason I've chosen to run in the capital's half marathon event this year (http://uk.competitor.com/edinburgh/edinburgh-splash).
I'll be running to raise money for Robbie's favourite charity - the Ayrshire Branch of the MS Society Scotland. His mum Helen, Lesley's big sister, suffered from the illness and sadly passed away five years ago last December. Helen, a nurse by profession, was an active volunteer of the Ayrshire Branch and served on their local Committee. Robbie also regularly did his bit for the charity over the years.
Any money you kindly donate to my half marathon collection will go directly towards helping young people diagnosed with MS and young people involved in caring for someone with MS in the Ayrshire & Arran areas of Scotland. The Ayrshire & Arran MS Branch have generously pledged to match pound for pound monies raised towards the fund.

Please also check out the Just Giving-Run-for-Robbie page of Alison Peacock and Stuart Doolan, two of Robbie's former Belmont Academy schoolmates, whose original idea to run the Edinburgh Half Marathon in Robbie's name inspired me to train for this event and raise money for the same cause and in the same spirit: http://www.justgiving.com/Run-for-Robbie
Thanks & best wishes,
David
