Story

Why run for the Sally Army?

As many know I generally fundraise for the Move For Wellness and are a bit surprised that I have chosen to run the London Marathon as part of Team Sally - which is the Salvation Army.

For many years the Salvation Army meant George Bernard Shaw's Major Barbara or Blue Minks Banner Man, or even Thora Hird in Hallelujah (a 1983 sit com). That was until I discovered my late Father In law, Tony David, was born at the Salvation Army Mothers Hospital, Hackney in 1936, then through my work running a debt collection agency I discovered The Salvation Army these days is a forefront on the war against modern slavery, which I find abhorrent.

So, on Sunday 23rd April 2023 I will be among the 40,000+ runners taking part in The London Marathon and yes I will be wearing a snazzy red tutu with bells! But I will be proudly swapping from a Move for Wellness vest to that of Team Sally.

However I, like so many, need your help as I have to raise a minimum of £2000 so i would appreciate any pounds, euros, dollars or any currency you can donate to my Just Giving page using the link below.
