Story
My wife and I have been incredibly lucky to have been gifted with two exceptional little boys - Rhys and Luke.
When one of them was 3, he started to display several traits that seemed to suggest that he struggled in certain circumstances, coupled with a gifted mind for mathematics. It soon became apparent that he may be Autistic, but to what extent we have no idea!
We have still been unable to get a diagnosis due to an overstretched system that is buckling more every day. Getting help too is a very complicated and painful process.
This doesn't change the fact he's our pride and joy and we will fight to the last to support and protect him. We are very lucky to have a supportive network of family and friends who are very accepting, helpful and understanding.
I can't imagine how hard it is for children and parents who suffer more severely, and feel very strongly that we can help more.
I will wear the National Autistic Societies vest with my sons name on it whilst running, and dedicated the little time we have to helping in whatever way we can.
