In mid-June I am cycling from John O'Groats to Land's End, a thousand miles, in nine days. That means over one hundred miles a day!
Sponsorship isn't required to take part in the ordeal as (I am doing it for fun!) but as I have such generous friends I wanted you to know that I am hoping to raise some money for The Great Ormond Street Childrens Hospital. I would like to raise enough money to buy them a heart rate monitor (or two), as when one of my daughters went to get her heart mended they had to stick a pencil into the heart monitor to make it work. I found it extraordinary that in the operating theatre they had the most state of the art technology, but on the wards they struggled for basic equipment.
So it seems a fair trade for me to get a few blisters on my bum so the stars who work in that hospital can give the children the care they need. I would be very grateful for any sponsorship you give.
Whether you sponsor me or not I will send you some photos taken en route. If you are very generous I will not send you photos of me in lycra!
Thank you
David
