Virgin London Marathon 2011 · 17 April 2011 ·

Every day in the UK, another 240 people wake up to the catastrophic impact of a stroke. The Stroke Association is the only charity in the UK providing lifelong support for all stroke survivors and their families.

Story

Having completed the Great North Run and reached the half century I felt it was now or never for a full marathon. It was in the balance (now or never!) and then a devastating stroke took someone I knew and through the Stroke Association I had the opportunity to do something meaningful. So it's now! Sadly many of us will know someone taken or affected by the crippling effects of a stoke - The Stroke Association works on research to understand the causes, and practical assistance for those affected - click their link for further information.

**** STOP PRESS **** Completed in 4hr 3min **** now in recovery

I have set an ambitious target - as it's a really deserving cause and as I figure this is the only marathon I'll do, I'm anxious to make the biggest impact!!

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer.
