I'm doing this ride to remember the people that are fighting or have lost the fight to this horrible disease. There are far too many good people coming down with cancer and time to stamp this illness out.
My sister in law Emma Chalk has a very rare form of cancer called Myeloma. Normally, new plasma cells are produced to replace old, worn-out cells in an orderly, controlled way. However, in myeloma, the process gets out of control and large numbers of abnormal plasma cells (myeloma cells) are produced. These fill up the bone marrow and interfere with the production of normal white blood cells, red blood cells and platelets.
The myeloma cells usually produce a large amount of a single type of abnormal antibody (immunoglobulin). This is known as a paraprotein or M protein. It can’t fight infection effectively and often reduces the production of normal antibodies.
Myeloma cells can spread throughout the bone marrow.
Too many plasma cells can damage the bone, which causes bone thinning, pain and sometimes fractures.
She always has a smile on her face and honestly would do anything for anyone. There is no cure for this form of cancer but with your help we can help the doctors find a cure for this disease.
On top of this, my brother and sister in law have a disabled son suffering with a rare disability called Cri-du-chat (Cry of the cat) syndrome. It affects 1:50000 newborns which means that part of the 5th cromosone missing so in turn means that he will lead his life of a 6 year old for the rest of his life. The point I am trying to make is that he needs both his parents for as long as possible.
So please lets help the doctors find a cure . PLEASE DIG DEEP
Thank you
