Hello! My name is David Cheuvront. I am a Junior iMPA Major with a minor in Management Information Systems at the McCombs Business School here in the wonderful city of Austin!

I was born in San Antonio and grew up in a smaller suburb in Northwest San Antonio called Helotes. I'm an only child but had plenty of dogs growing up to keep me company! I moved to Austin two years ago to get my education here at UT! It's been a big change going from the sleepy suburbs to the densest neighborhood in Texas, but it has been very exciting.

My hobbies include fishing, hunting, running, biking (of course), gaming, hiking, and camping. In addition, I love to cook and watch movies.

Most of my time these days is dedicated to school, a TA position, running, and Texas 4000. I am very excited to help my community out as I prepare to ride over 4000 miles all the way to Anchorage!

WHY I RIDE
There are three main people that I ride for.

The first is my Aunt Carol, affectionately called "Nana" from an early age. Nana was diagnosed with Ovarian cancer when I was 11. After 2 rounds of chemotherapy, she went into remission! However, a few years ago the cancer came back. She is now continuing to battle against it. She has been in my life for as long as I can remember - ready to offer consolation for the lows and make the highs even higher. Nana is a huge inspiration to me. She has kept her sense of humor, faith, and bravery throughout everything she has been through.

The second is one of my best friends in high school, Ruben. On one cloudy Thursday, he drew me to the side after class and told me he had testicular cancer and would have to miss most of the last semester of senior year. After many days in the hospital and countless nights of playing card games, he beat it and is currently leading a healthy life studying computer science at UTSA.

I don't know the name of the third person I ride for. After a long night of playing Magic: the Gathering with Ruben in the hospital, I had to head home and get some sleep. While I was waiting for the elevator, a girl no older than 8 years old walked by with her teddy bear in one hand and an IV unit in the other. It's hard to underestimate the impact this one child had on me. I haven't stopped thinking about her since then. At that moment, I knew I had to do something about this disease that can take so much away from us.

A few weeks after getting to UT, I learned about Texas 4000 and applied immediately. It took a second try to get in, but I am so glad to be here. My goal is to bring as much happiness to the people I meet along my ride. I want to bring us closer to a cure so that another family member doesn't lose all their strength during chemo, another best friend won't need to miss the best year of high school, and to make sure a little princess doesn't need to lose her hair.
