I’m very fortunate to be taking part in this years London Marathon, and would like to raise some much needed funds for a wonderful charity. Chloe’s and Sophie’s Special Ears Fund give huge amounts of support to deaf children and their families. I’ve been fortunate enough to have been granted 2 wishes by them and that was to fund my British Sign Language Levels 1&2. This has been invaluable to not just myself but us as a family as I’m able to now communicate so much better with our profoundly deaf son (Roman) and I’m also able to pass on what I’ve learned to the rest of the family meaning that we can all communicate better. Having a deaf/non verbal child is extremely difficult and the ability to now communicate easily has made a huge difference to our day to day life and Roman’s inclusion in all that we discuss.
