What do you get if you cross a bunch of middle aged blokes, a lunch break and a conversation about carbon frames????

A team of 15 Claire's employees cycling from Birmingham to London in aid of UNICEF!!!!

What started as an innocent conversation about summer and cycling has quickly escalated into a charity cycle from our Birmingham Head Office to our Flagship store in London. Frantic research on bikes, training plans and the purchasing of heaps of lycra and padding has since followed! The training has commenced and the route has been planned.

The initial euphoria of buying new bikes and doing something worthwhile is slowly being replaced with nerves and saddle sores as we begin to clock up the miles on two wheels.

Some of us love bikes, some of us loath exercise and some of us are in complete denial…..but all of us are committed to this challenge and raising as much as we can for UNICEF.

UNICEF works with families, communities and governments in more than 190 countries worldwide to protect and promote the rights of all children. They support families and communities to care for children and protect them against exploitation and abuse, fulfilling their right to a childhood. They work with partners to ensure that every child has the opportunity to take part in sport and play. As the world's largest distributor of vaccines to the developing world. Right now, they supply vaccines for 36 per cent of the world's children in over 190 countries. In 2010 UNICEF procured over 2.5 billion doses of traditional and new vaccines worth £470 million.

So, on the 11th and 12th July we will be cycling almost 150 miles from our Head Office in Birmingham to our Flagship Store on Oxford Street in London. Please support us and spare what you can to spur us on and support UNICEF.
