London Marathon 2017 · 23 April 2017 ·
Twelve months ago, I persuaded Rob Rinder it would be a good idea to run the marathon together for Buttle UK's Chances for Children Appeal.
Jill is chairing the appeal which is aiming to raise £10m over the next five years.
With six weeks to go, I pulled out leaving Rob to do it on his own. It was clearly the boost his career needed - but it also meant I have to do it this time round.
This fantastic charity, that helps children and young people at crisis points, was set up using the legacy of its founder Frank Buttle. That legacy funding means every pound raised goes directly to the end user and nothing is soaked up by admin costs. Kids Company it ain't!
Buttle's efficacy over the years is such that they are now the UK's largest direct-giving children's charity. A few pounds granted at the right time in the right direction really can make the difference to the beneficiary getting into an upward spiral rather than a downward one.
Most people have never heard of the Chances for Children Appeal or Buttle UK and so I would urge you to a) give generously and b) spread the word.
I last ran the marathon in 2004. It turns out there's a difference between being 35 and being 48. I hope you'll recognise that and sponsor accordingly.
Many thanks for your support.
