Story
St Peter's Hospice is Bristol's ONLY adult hospice caring for local people with life-limiting illnesses. Our commitment is to improve the quality of life of patients while extending care and support to their families and loved ones. All of our care is provided free of charge, but it costs us around £20,000 a day to provide that care. For most of this money we rely on Gifts in Wills, donations, fundraising and our shops. My wife Angie was diagnosed with terminal cancer in July 2016 and died the following December. Making St Peter's Hospice aware of her illness, we managed Angie's condition ourselves at the outset, with Claire keeping sensitively in touch from a distance and then, as things began to deteriorate, she became more prominent and made sure that Angie was given full access to the range of care services that were available. This culminated with 24 hour St Peter's Hospice home care and finally into the Hospice for the final few days of her life. It is fair to say that the organisation gave Angie and I all the support, and more, that could have been expected. For this reason we, The Sneaky Rutters, wish to raise funds for St Peter's Hospice so that they can hopefully continue to improve the quality of the fantastic services they provide for others with life-limiting illness.
