Story
As a long-term supporter of Carlisle United since 1993 and having a season ticket in nearly all that time I thought I would offer you all an opportunity to get a signed shirt from the club. All I would like is you all to take part in this raffle and offer £5 for the privilege of winning the signed shirt the club were kind enough to offer me. Why the orange shirt you may ask well Orange is the color of Muscular Dystrophy UK.
As some of you who know me may know from going to the games home and away over the years, I have a form of the condition called Becker Muscular Dystrophy. That hasn’t stopped me being a very active supporter over the years. Being at and witnessing many of the great games and occasions over the years even though it takes quite a physical toll on me.
I am also on the charity’s Scottish council and an active and previously an award-winning campaigner in the past on numerous issues within Cumbria and South West Scotland.
The “Muscular Dystrophy UK” charity is the lifeline for over 70,000 children and adults living in the UK with severe muscle wasting conditions. The work of the charity has been under immense pressure due to the Covid-19 pandemic, seeing the Muscular Dystrophy UK’s helpline supporting its 1,000th caller this year – providing help, advice and support with benefit application requests, writing supporting letters when challenging decisions arise, and offering advice to anyone living with or affected by a muscle-wasting condition. Many planned fundraising events have sadly been cancelled, or postponed, due to the pandemic adding pressure and uncertainty to the crucial research projects the charity helps to fund. Any support provided to MDUK by way of our long-term supporters, such as myself, at this critical time is warmly received and will help ensure the charity continues to help make every day count.
Any support would be greatly appreciated obviously I will pay the postage for sending this out to the winner. I will be arranging a draw in a few weeks’ time to pick the winner and hope to get someone from the club involved in pulling the name out the hat.
Thanks, and of course win or lose up the blues!!!
