Story
I was born with a heart condition called a 'Patent Foramen Ovale' which is very common and usually goes unnoticed and doesnt generally affect those with it.
However, after collapsing at work one day doctors discovered my heart had become enlarged and thickened showing all the symptoms of 'Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy' which coupled with the PFO meant more blood was flowing through the centre of my heart rather than around it, as it should do.
After many procedures over the course of around 4 years and with the British Heart Foundations help I am now healthy again and able to carry on the sport of cycling I love so much, and this is why I am completing this charity challenge (again) combining my love of mountain biking and raising money for a charity close to my heart, pardon the pun :D
This year I will be undertaking this event with my main man - Dan Akers (https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/akersd02) as part of the team 'Frocking hell' - https://www.justgiving.com/team/Frocking-hell - so named because if we reach our goal - we will bothe be riding the 75 miles in a dress, dressed in drag!... So dig deep 😜

The BHF has helped halve the number of people dying from heart and circulatory disease in the UK but sadly every day hundreds of people lose their lives. It's only thanks to support from people like us that the BHF can create new treatments and discover new cures. £24 could pay for two hours of research by an early career scientist, but every pound helps so please give what you can to help me hit my target. Thanks!
