Story
Between 18-22 April this year some cycling colleagues and I will be making a 300 mile bike trip from South east to South west Wales and return. The ride will be challenging and will take in some notable mountain ascents of the Gospel Pass, the Devil’s staircase and the Bwlch on its route.
I am using this challenge to raise funds for the Motor Neurone Disease Association. In January 2011 my very good friend and fellow cyclist Brian Haines passed away after a 2 year struggle with motor neurone disease. Throughout his illness Brian and his wife Margaret were supported by many friends but also through the work of the Motor Neurone Disease Association whose advice and counselling for sufferers and their families was of enormous help to Brian and his family at all stages.
I will be undertaking the ride on one of Brian’s stable of immaculately maintained bikes; a 1990s vintage hand built Raleigh Royal touring bike. I will be supporting all my own costs for the trip and all funds donated will be going to the charity.
I hope you feel able to support this cause and honour, with me, Brian’s memory.
Thank you
David
