Event: Ride London 2022, on 29 May 2022
Participants: Jamie, Jack and seven more brave/foolish folk!
Our older & disabled neighbours need us more than ever! We are riding 1,000 miles to fundraise for our next 55 years, supporting the Fulham community. Covid cancelled our annual fundraiser (10% of our income) in 2020&21, so every penny counts!

Story

Thank you for clicking through to my fundraising page. As you will now be aware, I have excitingly/ambitiously/foolishly agreed to be signed up to Cycle 100 miles on Sunday 29th May as part of the Ride London 100 event, raising funds for Fulham Good Neighbours, who I've become aware of through a good friend.  Here's some detail on what they do, and why they are in need of funds at the moment:

"The organisation supports older and disabled people in
their homes and gardens, in the community and at our community centre, and now online. We support almost 500 older and disabled people a year, supported by over 100 local volunteers. The free services aim to tackle concerns mainly related to: • access to services; • loneliness & isolation; and • poverty & deprivation

Covid hit the community disproportionately hard over the
last two years and demand for the  projects continues to be high and,
despite the pandemic, we have managed to grow our work in the community over the last two years. However, we have faced fundraising challenges including the (Covid enforced) cancelation of our annual fundraiser, the Parsons Green Fair, two years running. We had come to rely on income generated via the event, which has meant a loss of £40,000 to our income during this time. As such, we have had to diversify the way we fundraise. One of the ways that we will do this is by growing our events fundraising. We very much appreciate your support in helping us do this".

I am very much looking forward to the event, but am quite nervous about the distance, at time of writing. It will be the furthest I have ever cycled, and just for an extra challenge, am due to be joining a stag weekend on the Friday-Saturday before an early start on the Sunday..

Thanks for any support - and hope to see some of you soon on cycle route stops, some co-calorie-consumption, or even at Tower Bridge on the day!
