Story
I was planning on doing the Manchester Marathon in April 2023 just for myself, it's my first marathon and it was something that I wanted to achieve.
Plans changed in March 2023 when a good friend experienced a heart attack a metre from where I was standing. It was a huge shock, and an experience that I am sure will live with all involved for a long time. Thanks to the fantastic work by a first aider, the luck of having an A&E nurse in the vicinity and the availability onsite of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED), I'm delighted to share that that my friend is alive and well.
Using an AED can push survival rate as high as 74%, without one, it's a single figure percentage.
I'm hoping I can raise enough money to help London Hearts (https://londonhearts.org/) purchase and place an AED, with any excess paying for training.
