I am running the Manchester Marathon on Sunday 3 April 2022 in memory of my mum, Pamela Hindley, who passed away on 1 May 2020. I am raising money for two charities - Marie Curie and Farleigh Hospice. Both of these charities provided amazing support for my mum when my brother, sister and I cared for her in her home, when she was diagnosed with terminal cancer during the first COVID lockdown in April 2020. The local Hospice, Farleigh, was closed due to the pandemic, but their staff provided care for my mum in the home every day. Marie Curie provided care for my mum overnight. The support of both of these charities was excellent and helped us through this very difficult time.

Farleigh Hospice is a registered charity (no. 284670) which provides hospice care to people affected by life-limiting illnesses across mid Essex.They help patients to live as actively as possible from the point of diagnosis to the end of their life, by providing physical and emotional care, free of charge.With approximately 40% of their yearly running costs being funded by the local NHS, they rely on the support and goodwill of the local mid Essex community to contribute to the £16,500 it costs to provide their services each day.
