Haig Housing is the UK’s leading housing charity providing homes for veterans and their families. We support over 4,000 residents, aiming to help veterans in housing need; including those severely injured, whether transitioning into civilian life or in need of a helping hand in later years.

Story

This spring, to raise vital money for the Coming Home campaign, the First Aid Nursing Yeomanry and the Honourable Artillery Company will be joining forces on the Ypres march. On the 18 -20 May 2012, four members of the FANY and four from the HAC will march 100km around the Ypres Salient, taking three days to complete the route alongside military and civilian teams from across the world.

All the sponsorship raised by the eight members of the team will be split between the three charities. Half of the money will go to Coming Home, the charity campaign to provide specially adapted and appropriate housing for the hundreds of injured Service personnel in need of rebuilding their lives.

A quarter of the funds will go to the First Aid Nursing Yeomanry, whose members are dedicated volunteers who give their time freely to support both civil and military authorities within the UK. Members are on call, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, to the City of London Police Casualty Bureau in times of major emergencies.

The last quarter of the money raised will go to the Honourable Artillery Company Benevolent Fund, which helps needy members of a regiment that trains and equips soldiers to be surveillance and target acquisition specialists, with skills in covert intelligence gathering, communications and logistics.

By marching a route around Ypres, a town which has dedicated itself to peace and remembrance, the FANY and HAC are joining together to support Coming Home’s crucial work. To find out more about Coming Home, the FANY and the HAC, please visit the websites below.
