Story
I am a leukaemia survivor.
I was first diagnosed with Hairy Cell Leukaemia in 2003, went into remission but had a relapse in 2010.
When my wife, Carolyn, trained as a doctor in the 1980s, such a diagnosis would have been terminal. By 2003, thanks to progress through research, treatment was available and by 2010, the medical response had been improved even further. I have been in remission and checked regularly since then.
I am so grateful to those undertaking research, the skilled doctors and wonderful healthcare professionals who looked after me so well which means I can live my life fully.
In the last few years, I have lost a considerable amount of weight and I am pleased to be training and running regularly with my dog, Hansen, in my retirement.
So this is an opportunity to do something positive and give something back – to raise money for Leukaemia Care.
I am very grateful for your support
