Paris Marathon 2018 · 8 April 2018 ·

Team Kenya work in partnership with a Kenyan NGO, to educate and empower vulnerable girls and women. Through our work we are supporting and enabling positive transformational change for economically poor and marginalised communities in Ndhiwa, rural Western Kenya.

Story

Hello friends and all

I have done lots of races in England and Scotland, including 76 half marathons, 8 marathons and 15 Great North Runs.

I am slowing down a bit, now an OAP, but still enjoy longer or tough races if I remember to pace myself and keep a bit back for the last miles.  I have managed 3 marathons in the last year.

Having started working with Team Kenya in the last 18 months, I was chuffed to get the chance to run the Paris marathon and raise some money for the wonderful range of interconnected projects in Ndhiwa.  4 winter months is a good time to train with Stocksfield Striders, Maddy (my Irish Setter) and running into or out of work.  I feel lucky to still be fit and able to run and will be grateful for any sponsorship.  I am going to pay all my own costs.

Latest training run - Sunderland Strollers' Doorstep HM on 3rd December - took it easy 1.44.
