Story
Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page for the Baby Memorial Garden at Gloucester Hospital. Me, my Dad (Sean) my sister (Louise), Scott, Ben and Jake will be completing the Three Peaks Challenge followed by the Brighton marathon over one weekend. Everything is self-funded which means all donations go directly to the charity to help create a Baby Memorial Garden at Gloucester Hospital where babies are laid to rest and to help bereaved families with the loss of their angel babies.
Please read our story below.
On the 19th December 2022 me and my other half Saphron tragically lost our son Charlie Sean Lynham.
Saph and I were over the moon when we found out we were expecting another baby. It truly felt like the missing piece to our puzzle had been found. Lillie (our daughter) was going to be a big sister and we had moved into a new house a couple of months prior.
Our journey through Saphs second pregnancy started as many others do all around the world. Every scan was a treasure, being able to see him growing, finding out he was a boy and hearing his heartbeat was amazing.
Everything was great until week 19. Week 19, Saph rang the hospital and had concerns that her waters may have broken. Saph was later admitted to hospital and closely monitored by the fantastic team in the antenatal ward in Gloucester Hospital. Our worst fears were later confirmed. Saphs waters had broken and she had to stay in hospital for 3 nights to be closely monitored.
The facts were presented to us that it was likely within the next week Charlie may be born. With no signs of labour Saph was allowed home after 3 nights and told to get some much needed rest. At this point we didn't know what to think. After lots (and I mean a LOT) of Googling we were expecting the worst.
On the evening of the 19th of December 2022 Saph went into labour. We rushed into hospital and were immediately moved into the 'Snowdrop Suite' within the delivery suite at Gloucester Hospital. At 19:55pm our son Charlie was born extremely premature at 20 weeks and 4 days.
Charlie was born with signs of life, his heart was beating away for 2 hours. All we could do was provide him with cuddles and love until he passed. Charlie Sean Lynham later passed at 21:55pm. Our hearts were broken but we also had a feeling of great privilege that we were able to provide him with comfort before he passed.
The team at Gloucester Hospital did a truly amazing job in looking after us. They provided us with the fantastic opportunity to get photos of us with Charlie and also some fantastic keepsakes which are with both Charlie and our daughter Lillie. These keepsakes have all been donated to support families going through the tragic experience we are going through. Allowing not only us to treasure the short but amazing memory of Charlie, but also enabling Lillie to have a connection with her little brother.
The care we received from the team at Gloucester Hospital was second to none. The midwifes truly went above and beyond their job description. After speaking to the bereavement midwife (Nikki) who provided us with fantastic care, we learned about the Baby Memorial Garden.
There are approved plans (funding pending) to create a Baby Memorial Garden in the grounds of Gloucester Hospital. This will provide parents like us, who have tragically lost their Son/Daughter a place they can lay their angel babies to rest. When the garden is built we will be scattering our beloved Charlies ashes here. After hearing about this amazing cause I decided that I wanted to help. Being able to help create an amazing garden parents can remember their angel babies, will in a small way provide parents with some comfort in the days, weeks, months and years after losing a baby.
Therefore I have decided to start a fundraiser to provide Cheltenham and Gloucester Charity with the much needed funds to create this amazing garden to remember all the angel babies who never made it. To raise these funds myself and my Dad will completing the Three Peaks Challenge followed by the Brighton Marathon in one weekend.
Any donations are really appreciated and are being used for a truly amazing cause. Join me on my journey to beast myself around the UK followed by a marathon for good measure. Every donation will help create a beautiful memorial garden to help remember their angel babies and to ensure there never forgotten.
Thank you all for your love and support during these hard times.
