I am doing 3 bike rides

1) the Derby Sportiv on 29th April or the mid winter as it will now be called. 40K around south of Derby.

2) London Nightrider (9th into the 10th June) - 100K on the night time streets of London, around the city and out into hilly south London and Crystal Palace.

3) Ride the North(25th and 26th August) - 2 days across the Grampians - The route is always on the backroads of North East Scotland, in the foothills of the Grampian Highlands (in Aberdeenshire and Moray). The route has changed a little each year. In the region of 320K.

(See the Pictures for Routes)

I have bought a new bike for the experience and guess I'll have to buy lights as I've never cycled in the dark.

This is my 6th event and am hoping to raise at least 2 times the cost of doing the events (excluding the bike) If you add in the hotels, travel costs, event entry fees you are looking at the best part of £500 so the target is £1,000 which is just slightly more than what we made doing the Wembley to Blackpool ride 4 years ago.

Thank's to Don Amott for paying the Nightrider entry fee.

I'm not a lycra clad fanatic - and do this because it's not easy for me and at 63 and 3/4's I'm not a chicken in spring.

Keeping fit nowadays does mean a few miles on the bike but never do to much in case I get burnt out or wear out the tyres.

I play golf and am involved in semi - professional football. I have been at Mickleover Sports as a coach for the reserves for 10 years since leaving Belper Town and apart from the involvement I enjoy seeing lads progress to higher standards.  That, and joining in a game at training - seldom on the losing side (I also make the rules). My claim to fame is that I am the oldest player to get booked within the remits of the Derbyshire FA.

Thankyou  for taking time to read this and I hope that together we can make a difference.
