Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

We are indeed walking (it’s a round robin 17 miles) Kinder Scout in the Peak District, which starts at the beginning of the Pennine Way. We were also bought up around these part being from North Staffs so the Peak District was our back yard 😊

The Mission: We are allowed to walk through our National Parks as a result of the “Mass Trespass” of 1932 which is well documented. A protest walk against the land owners of the time in a plea to be free and able to walk across the land as we do today, explore new places, express “freedom” and be a part of something that is so wonderful.

This is an important mission statement using the word “freedom”, (the power or right to act, speak, or think as one wants). Something that we believe that Scotty’s exemplifies in the way Scotty’s Little Soldiers have established their mission, setting Children free from their loss and finding a “Freedom” within. I guess it’s the way I see it and maybe you will agree.

Also, many Soldiers (current and former) use this route over Kinder to train and keep fit and of course for leisurely purposes, as it is a beautiful place (when its not bucketing down) and many unusual rock features and waterfalls along the way to enjoy. Both Sue and I suffer with the daily pain of Arthritis, so this is equally challenging, we thank you for anything (no matter how small) that you can give to this wonderful charity - which is so close to our hearts. Plus, we are walking in 1930s attire just as they did on the Mass Trespass,.... so no fancy gortex coats and trousers on this venture....  ;-)
