AUKLS is a local, self-funding charity that has delivered services in South London since 1966. We exist to improve life for older people, especially the most vulnerable, by addressing poverty, isolation, social exclusion and physical, emotional and mental suffering.

Story

After many years of supporting family, friends and many others besides, it is finally time for me to take my turn at pounding the streets for one of the best days of the year in our city, the 2014 London Marathon.

I have decided to raise money for Age UK and in particular the Lewisham and Southwark branch. This charity is close to my heart having been a great help to my grandparents over a number of years. They provide a place for older people to go, have a meal and socialise on a daily basis and I have seen first hand the effect this can have. Age UK also support older people facing issues including illness, poverty and emotional problems. On top of all this they provide day and longer breaks which I know my grandparents have greatly enjoyed.

Any donations large or small will be greatly appreciated and will help the dedicated people at Age UK continue their great work. Having been granted a place through the ballot 100% of the donations received will be going to the charity and not to pay for my place on the start line.
